Will I need a building permit to install my storm shelter? Depending on where you live, a permit may be required for install. Give us a call, we can determine requirements for your location. If you do need a permit, we can make the process painless.
Do you deliver and install your storm shelters? Yes! Call us today for a quote - delivery fees are based on the distance from our manufacturing facility in Hartselle, AL.
Can my indoor storm shelter be installed on my existing concrete foundation? Yes, our indoor shelters are installed on an existing concrete garage floor. Installation costs may increase if the concrete is in poor condition or can not support the storm shelter.
Do you pour the concrete for my outdoor storm shelter? Yes, we will form and pour a concrete slab specifically for the outdoor storm shelter. Call us today to get a quote!
Do you require a down payment when placing an order? Yes, we only ask for a $500 down payment for indoor shelters and 25% down for outdoor shelters which includes us pouring a reinforced concrete foundation.
What happens if my house collapses around the storm shelter? Our shelters are designed with doors that swing inward to ensure that debris can not block the door and trap you inside.
Are your storm shelters handicap accessible? Most of our shelters are handicap accessible with wide entry doors and no steps. Call us today for recommendations on your specific needs!
What if I need to provide shelter for a large group of people? Safe-T-Shelter offers custom solutions to protect large groups, whether that is your community or your company. We can make individual shelters that hold up to 96 people, and can install multiple in the same location if even more capacity is needed. We have installed storm shelters large enough to protect for 500+ people.
Are your shelters FEMA and ICC-500 compliant? Yes! All of our residential shelters meet or exceed FEMA P-320 and ICC-500 standards. All commercial and community shelters meet or exceed FEMA P-361 and ICC-500 standards.
Can your shelters withstand an EF-5 tornado? Yes, all of our shelters are designed and engineered to withstand a direct hit from an EF-5 tornado.
